SCREENWRITER

Multi-award-winning Madeiran-Guyanese writer from Scarborough, Toronto, creating character-driven stories about how humans find authenticity by embracing their tragedies, vulnerabilities, and joys.

I am an obsessive artist and second-generation immigrant raised during the dot-com boom, who was exposed to death, disease, and hi-tech addictions as a child. I draw from my lived experiences, unique neurology, and complex West Indian heritage to create art that seeks to unify us in our surreal 21st-century human condition.

  • PARASOCIAL (Thriller Feature) — Top 10% for The Academy Nicholl Fellowship (2023)

SCARLEM (Comedy Pilot) — Received The Black List Reader Recommendation (2020) and won the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival Best Screenplay Under 60 Award (2022)

BRAND NEW SPECIES (Comedy Pilot) — Magee TV Diverse Screenwriters Finalist (2020)

SPACE GIRL LIAR (Comedy Pilot) — Winner of the Telefilm Canada New Voices Award (2019)

  • As a sensitive little potageeman, I would stay up late listening to the rhythms of my family's dialogues through the walls as they laughed at adult secrets, coped with reality, and shared in the hope that transcended our existential hardships. I blend my passion for storytelling with my family's survivalist immigrant work ethic in an attempt to pay forward their many great sacrifices.

For as long as I can remember, I have been drawing maps of humanity by writing poems and saying too much, too quickly, in overly confessional forms to those who would listen. I was a kaleidoscopically joyful nerd editing videos on torrented software and a terrible student as a neurodivergent kid raised in the 90s and 2000s, labeled every shade of mischievous, flamboyant and idiotic by others coping with different versions of our same suffering human condition.

As an early internet explorer, I spent years in text-based roleplaying forums via my grandfather's Windows 98 PC and I began taking narrative classes in night school as a teen. I graduated with honours from Sheridan College's Film and Television program, studying television writing, directing, and editing. I was lucky to have a pragmatic education involving hundreds of hours on set as a key creative making dozens of projects with talented collaborators, setting the stage for my work today as a storytelling entertainer.

My interests myelinate the skill circuits for all of the work I do. I played music as a kid and performed comedy for a few years as a stand-up and improviser. I have been fortunate to gain some public recognition for my screenwriting portfolio. My teleplays and screenplays have placed highly for many awards including those above. From 2020 to 2022, I partnered with literary manager Carmen Knox of CK Artists to expose my work to Hollywood and New York, opening the door to a series of collaborative discussions with top U.S. studios and networks.

I am a lifelong learner who loves to work with expressive future-oriented artists steeped in authenticity. I study timeless works in psychology, philosophy, spirituality, mythology, narrative theory, and data storytelling to help understand why we are the way we are.

My unique relationship with character-driven tragicomedy stems from my early encounters with mortality. My material reflects the emotionally grounded but absurd experiences we navigate as modern cyborg-human-animals lost in our thoughts while searching for meaning.
